Membership

Enrolling for a qualification means you join IRM and become part of our global community that covers over 100 countries. You also access a valuable range of benefits to support you through your risk management studies and beyond. These include our online resource centre, access to thought leadership, topical webinars and much more.

The International Certificate is the first step towards becoming professionally qualified in risk management. Successful completion of the Certificate enables you to become a Certificate Member and use the internationally recognised designation IRMCert. The International Diploma is the start of your professional journey and entry point to achieve Certified Member (CMIRM) status. 

Designations demonstrate your personal achievements and can be used on your business cards, email signatures, LinkedIn profile and other professional materials.  

Student membership subscriptions expire at the following points:

• International Certificate programmes:
  30th June following your successful completion of the qualification, or 30th June following two years at student member grade from enrolment date - whichever is first
  
  
• International Diploma:
  Expires 30 June annually; students will need to maintain their subscription annually until they have completed the course.

You will be required to renew your subscription on an annual basis thereafter.  

Recognition of Prior Learning

We recognise the value of previously completed relevant qualifications from other educational bodies. We grant exemptions from part of or all of the International Diploma. This eliminates duplication of study and can fast-track you through our qualifications. 

Opportunities for gaining formal recognition of learning acquired through experience, rather than qualifications, are also available.
