Institute of Risk Management (IRM) announces new global ambassador for Australia and the Asia Pacific Region

The IRM are delighted to announce a new Global Ambassador for Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

Gareth Byatt is an independent risk consultant based in Sydney; he is a member of the IRM and an active member of the Infrastructure Risk and Innovation Special Interest Groups  (SIGs). He has worked across Australia and Asia Pacific for the past ten years (and was based in Europe prior to 2008).

He is a visiting lecturer for the University of New South Wales, Australia for Masters and Undergraduate degree programs.

Gareth also serves on the New South Wales Committee of the Engineers Australia Risk Engineering Society.

He holds an MBA from Henley.

Gareth said:

“It is a pleasure and an honour to be part of the Global Ambassadors network for the IRM. I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow IRM colleagues and members and to helping people across Australia and the Asia Pacific region to leverage the services that the IRM provides.”

Nicola Crawford, CFIRM, Chair of the IRM said:

“This is an exciting development for the IRM to be able to reach out to global members who are experts in their field and leverage their expertise in local markets, Gareth is now one of several Global Ambassadors representing the IRM in local markets, with local knowledge and expertise.

Risk management in Australia and the Asia Pacific region is developing at an exponential rate and has a huge bank of talent coming out of the education system – now is as good a time as any to help develop risk management to ensure business longevity and success.

I’d like to thank Gareth for his commitment to the IRM and really look forward to working with him and the other newly appointed ambassadors going forwards”.
