Ian Livsey | Chief Executive

Ian has been Chief Executive since 2015.

He began his career in the oil, gas and petrochemicals industries with BP, Shell and ICI and has also worked in local and central government. Before joining IRM he held roles as Chief Executive of the Gangmaster Licensing Authority, a law enforcement agency, and as Managing Director at the Centre for Rail Skills.

In addition to his executive roles, Ian is Chairman of OSHCR, a national Health & Safety body, having previously been Chairman of JTL, one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in England, SummitSkills in the construction industry and TrustMark, an accreditation body in the domestic construction sector.

He was a trustee at the voluntary sector organisations, Groundwork and London Play and is a school governor at The Priory Belvoir Academy in Leicestershire.

He holds a PhD from Bristol University and an MBA from Warwick Business School.


Barbara Amponsah-Abedi FCIEA | Director of Assessment & Accreditation

Barbara has worked for IRM for 11 years​.​ She has extensive experience in Educational Assessment​ and currently oversees IRM qualifications and university partnerships.

Prior to joining the IRM, Barbara worked for Pearson (formerly Edexcel) within their exam management team.

Barbara is heavily involved ​in school governance. She is the Chair of an outstanding maintained primary school and Vice-Chair of another​ outstanding voluntary-aided primary school.


Antony Cox | Director of Finance

Antony is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Association of Corporate Treasurers.  He has much experience of working in finance both in the charity and commercial sectors.  He is also currently Chair of a charity managing community benefit funds.

He has been with IRM for five years as the organisation’s first Director of Finance.


Sanjay Himatsingani  |  Director of Training and Business Development

 

Sanjay Himatsingani is IRM’s Director of Business Development and leads the IRM training team that works with clients around the world. IRM helps build programmes that ensure that everyone from the CEO to the front-line team has the knowledge and skills necessary to improve the organisation’s risk maturity and embed risk management. Through programmes that range from individual workshops to long-term learning and development plans, organisations become more proactive in managing risks, employees become more engaged, and teams become more productive. 

Sanjay has extensive experience working with national and multi-national businesses in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. He combines his learning and development expertise with practical experience in the business and training worlds to develop bespoke programmes for organisations globally as well as the IRM’s suite of training and education products.

Clients include Barclays Bank, UBS, Saudi Aramco, BP, Network Rail, General Medical Council, NHS, Ministry of Defence, National Grid, Prudential and Ecclesiastical.


Carolyn Williams | Director Corporate Relations 

 

Carolyn’s main role is to act as an ambassador for the IRM, building connections with organisations to promote competence and capability in risk management.

Carolyn has taken the IRM exams herself and is a Certified Member. She has been at the IRM since 2006, having previously worked in the risk team at Lloyd’s of London.
