Switzerland
The IRM is the leading global professional body for Risk Management.
We drive excellence in managing risk to ensure organisations are ready for the opportunities and threats of the future. We do this by providing internationally recognized qualifications and training, publishing research, guidance and thought leadership and setting professional standards.
The IRM Switzerland Regional Group (IRMSRG) aims to host at least 4 annual risk management events for its members and guests, enabling them to stay abreast of key topics, global best practices, to forge and build strong relationships and to network in an open and friendly, supportive club style.

Speaker:
- Creighton Twiggs, former Corporate Risk Manager of Clariant
Synopsis:
Creighton has experience in a number of areas but has always worked at corporate head offices.
Starting out as an accountant, moving through treasury, legal, insurances, pensions, shareholder relations, company secretary and executive board member. This is not a typical route to becoming an Enterprise Risk Manager and therefore Creighton's views may be unusual for a risk manager.
Creighton does not think he has the answers or indeed the right questions and welcomes a lively discussion on delivering ERM assessments and risk management solutions to senior company managers.

Values at Risk: The Ethical Turn in Risk Management
|
* Please note: Arrival by public transport is recommended as parking is limited
Agenda:
- Is it possible to avoid predictable surprises and fend off man-made disasters?
- We will review the critical need for ethics in Risk Management and learn how an innovative and yet simple approach added significant value to companies at the heart of the Swiss economy.
- Risk dialogue as a critical success factor for effective risk management
- Networking and Flying-Dinner
Our speakers include:
Professor Anette Mikes of the University of Lausanne. Anette is a pioneer in the field of Risk Management, having worked at Harvard Business School as an Associate Professor and launched together with Professor Robert Kaplan the executive education program “Risk Management for corporate leaders”. Anette has twice won the prestigious David Solomons award, in 2010 “Risk Management and Calculative Cultures” and in 2016 “How do Risk Managers become influential?” Her documentary “The Kursk Submarine Rescue Mission” won the most outstanding short film award at the 2014 Global Risk Forum in Davos.
Kurt Meyer, CRO of Swissgrid, the Swiss national electricity transmission system operator, will present on Swissgrid’s partnership with Anette in co-developing RiskTalk, using it as a strong instrument to encourage employees to risk manage their jobs and environment. Kurt will share with us the learnings and effects of implementing RiskTalk, impacting also on enterprise value(s). Interestingly, Swissgrid has been visited by companies, including financial services, who plan to better manage their risks by using RiskTalk (i.e. conduct risks).
Robert Kessler, Managing Director of Kessler & Co Inc. and Simon Künzler, Head of Risk Consulting at Kessler Consulting Inc. will present on what is the overlap between a qualified insurance broker and a risk manager and provide insights on risk dialogue as a critical success factor to make risk management effective.
